Subject: Announcing NoteCards 1.3 featuring multiple open NoteFiles To: NoteCards^.pa, ISL^.pa, LispFriends^.pa Cc: NoteCardsSupport.pa Announcing the alpha release of NoteCards 1.3 featuring multiple open NoteFiles NoteCards 1.3 is now available for use by brave souls who wish to pioneer the latest and greatest. The major feature of NoteCards 1.3 is the ability to open and work on more than one NoteFile at a time. Other features include Copy, Move, Delete, and Close commands that operate on structures (i.e., subnetworks of cards and links) and a new non-moded protocol for selecting cards. A description of NoteCards 1.3 can be found on: {qv}1.3k>doc>releasenotes.ip (or .press or .ted). Copies of this document can also be found near Pattie's desk (Rm 1642a, Bldg 35). Additional documentation can be found on {qv}1.3k>doc>. NoteCards 1.3 can be loaded from {qv}1.3k>notecards.dcom. It is also available as a sysout built on top of Loops: {qv}1.3k>notecards.sysout. NoteCards 1.3 runs in Koto Lisp. To use NoteCards 1.3 you must convert your 1.2 NoteFiles to the new 1.3 format. This is a one-way process. Once converted to 1.3, NoteFiles cannot be converted back to the 1.2 format. All card types need to be updated to handle the changes to the programmer's interface and the types mechanism. The standard card types (e.g. Text, Sketch, Browser, Document, etc.) have been updated. But many library packages (e.g. TableTop, IdeaSketch, and Cluster cards) and user-defined card types have not yet been updated. NoteFiles containing card types that have not been updated to 1.3 cannot be converted to the new format. So, you may want to hold off on using 1.3 until your favorite card types have been updated. As always, comments and bugs to NoteCardsSupport.pa. Enjoy in good health. -- Frank, Randy, & Kirk (aka NoteCardsSupport.pa) (((MODERN MODERN TIMESROMAN D,PcÂCE^!º53v=zº
