Please consider sharing the expense of publishing the CHI+GI'87 advance program in Computer Graphics. We calculate these expenses at $2,014 for 19 pages at $106 per page. An appropriate sharing would be for the conference to pay for 15 of these 19 pages for a total of $1,590.

Here are my understandings. SIGGRAPH, as a society ``in cooperation with'' SIGCHI for the CHI+GI'87 conference, is not obligated to publish the full advance program. SIGGRAPH has published 2 to 4 page conference materials at no charge. SIG newsletters are not permitted to accept paid advertising. CHI+GI'87 would avoid approximately $10,000 in expense if it did not mail the advance program to all SIGGRAPH members. CHI conferences have in the past done such mailings to SIGGRAPH members.
