I tried copying a large file (2500 local pages) onto a local DSK volume on a DLION.  It took a full 6 minutes just to allocate the DLion disk pages.  During this time, the system was essentially locked out, so I couldn''t to any other tasks.'

If this is standard behavior for large files,  it is way, way too slow for practical use.'
