If you run TEDIT or CHAT and the TTY switches to that process, then you can''t get the TTY switched back to the top-level window by clicking in the Top-level window.  You have to quit Chat or Tedit to get it to go back to there.'

My guess is that CHAT is the offender.  Somehow the CHAT process seems to be associated with the top-level tty window.  If you click in the top-level window, it''s the chat  process that gets woken up with the caret flashing.'

If you don''t have Chat going, then you can click back and forth between a Tedit window and the top-lvel window without any trouble.'
