DOWINDOWCOM is definitely NOT what I''m looking for.  DOWINDOWCOM allows me to simulate the menu interaction that comes from pressing the RIGHT button in the background.  What I want is buttoneventfns for the left/midsdle buttons in the background that are totallyu independent of the right button background menu.  In fact thge button event fns I want to call will not be menus at all.'

I added the variables BACKGROUNDBUTTONEVENTFN, BACKGROUNDCURSORINFN, BACKGROUNDCURSOROUTFN, and BACKGROUNDCURSORMOVEDFN which if non-NIL should be a function name which gets called whenever the named action occurs in the background.'
