I frequently receive messages out of order (Cbernet goes down for a while, and old, unseen messages stack up).  I would like to be able to sort the messages in my browser at least chronologically.  Other predicates would be nice, but chronologically is the most important.'

Getting my mail through 2+ mailservers, at least one of them frequently inaccessable, often results in receiving mail out of order.  I dearly miss the Laurel SortMail.  Actually,  this really ought to be a standard procedure for updating the table of contents (I don''t really care if the folder is out of order, as long as the TOC is ordered).'

It wouldn''t be too hard to sort the mail by postmark as it comes in, and I have on occasion wanted this.  Sorting the mail once it is stored away in the file is a bit tougher, since it requires the ability to parse the relevant date in the header and dates sometimes come in odd forms (and this also raises the question of whether it is the Date field you want to sort on; consider delayed arpanet mail--you might want to sort on the date appearing in the most recent Received-From field).'
