"Cannot set file type for NS file. SETFILEINFO does not allow the file '
type for a file resident on an NS file sever to be set. This is required'
to transfer files generated on the 1108 to other networked devices such '
as the 820 and 8010. When an attempt is made to do this by (SETFILEINFO '
''FOO ''FILETYPE 3), SETFILEINFO breaks with Unknown Filing Attribute but '
GETFILEINFO returns the correct setting. "'
I tried this on Fugue6 with (SETFILEINFO ''FOO ''TYPE ''BINARY) and that '
failed with Unknown Filing Attribute 17 but GETFILEINFO still returned '

It is not possible to set the FILETYPE of a file on anNS file server. This is an entirely unreasonable restriction.GETFILEINFO returns the FILETYPE correctly and allows you to determine which files are lisp, office systems, 820etc. But an attempt to do a SETFILEINFO on FILE.TYPE results in "Unknown filing attribute". This means that it is not possible to move files from the LISP world to that of other networked devices which emplay specific filetypes, speciofically this preventing one customer from moving files from lisp to an 820.'
