... which reads something like "Can''t convert a PRESS to a PRESS printer".  Whatever this means, its not a correct error msg.  In the absence of a specified printer (e.g., in the TEDIT.MENU) the HARDCOPY should not proceed if DEFAULTPRINTINGHOST is NIL.  It should give a simnpole error msg indicating that this is the case!!'
