Subject: Want automagic version comparison between sysout and files

Lisp Version: 28-May-84 19':09':20

Description: WRT the problem in my message about loading source files (e.g. EXPORTS.ALL) into various sysouts, it sees there''s no way to keep track of whence you got your sysout.'
'
How about defining some sort of mythical {SOURCE}, so I could load the right files just with FILESLOAD? I can''t redefine DIRECTORIES, because my 3-lisp doesn''t necessarily know what system it''s running in. I think that''s the responsibility of lisp, not of my system'

(FILESLOAD EXPOSRTS.ALL) in the latest FULL.SYSOUT blows you into RAID. ↑D and ↑N are to no avail, one must ↑K. Repeatable in my and Shrager''s environment, so it''s not that.'

I''ve had no trouble with this combination -- could it be that you got a sysout from <LispCore> and the EXPORTS.ALL from <Lisp>Sources> ? or maybe vice-versa?'

Indeed, i was just doing (FILESLOAD EXPORTS.ALL).'
Are loadups for Lisp>current made especially, or just renamed from LispCore>Next? If they''re made especially, then perhaps DIRCTORIES could be set in such a way that (FILESLOAD et al work correctly?)'

A single setting of DIRECTORIES wouldn''t be generally satisfactory; I''m not sure of any way of coordinating sysout and EXPORTS.ALL file except by explicit knowledge.'
'
Mike Sannella is working on a more systematic method of keeping an EXPORTS.ALL file coordinated with <LispNew>Current> and (I hope!) with <Lisp>Current>.'
