Subject: Want option to specify order to fill multi-column menus

'
Context': Putting up a multi-column menu, the items are always laid out by columns within rows (horizontally). If the items are sorted alphabetically, this layout is much harder to read than if they are laid out by rows within columns (vertically). '
'
Suggestion':'
'
1) Add a field to menus which specifies which way to lay out the items, or'
'
2) Treat a specification of MENUCOLUMNS only as a clue to lay the items out vertically. (Probably bad, as this is non-upward compatible.)'
