did this behavior change? It seems now when I get an error break that it clears the window, but then page-holds after saying (FOO broken).'

I could not get this to happen. Were you running with BREAKWINDOWSPEC set to a very small height window? Has it stopped happening? '

no, I still see it from time to time. It may happen when I control-D or something. Does CLEARW reset the EOL count of a window?'

I think that''s it. There was a check in DSPRESET but it did not take into account processes. It does now so this problem should stop.'
