I suggest that the undocumented function CLEAR, which is used by the window system, be renamed.  CLEAR is a not-uncommon function name for people to use in their own systems; redefining CLEAR causes serious problems (e.g. CHANGEBACKGROUND breaks).  Maybe \CLEAR would be a better name?'
