There is something screwy going on with files created on this directory --'
I needed to make a trivial (in complexity only -- very important in effect)'
edit to RS232; took me two CLEANUPs to get what I wanted. Then I wanted'
to go back and delete the file created by the first CLEANUP; but DELFILE'
just hung forever, even though I had already typed in the correct password'
for connecting to [Phylum]<Lisp> (how else could I have created the file'
to begin with!).'
This may be an AR on DELFILE; more likely it is on the default protection'
set for that directory.'

The significant clue seems to be that the files on <Lisp> have had their Write protection set to "None". That protection does not affect the creation of files, apparently, but new versions inherit the protection of the previous version, and so cannot be deleted. I suspect the only way to delete such files is to chat to the server, connect to <Lisp>, change the file''s protection, then delete it. Thus the only thing Lisp''s DELFILE can reasonably do is return NIL.'
So change AR':'
