Subject': Lisp': Floppy': Copyfile and floppy.from.file too slow'
Lisp-System-Date': 14-Mar-84 10':16':58'
Machine-Type': Dolphin'
Copyfiling a large file or sysout to floppies or using floppy.from.file runs awfully slowly': close to 20 minutes per floppy. Creating the same floppy from scratch in Tajo runs noticeably quicker.'
I spoke to Kelly and he said that there were a lot of diagnostic checks in that code which slow it down a lot, and which could probably now be removed. Perhaps those checks could be taken out in the near future to make life easier for floppymakers.'

I probably won''t remove the self consistency checks until'
end of summer. Some of the consistency checks have actually caught'
bugs in the field and have helped me in my debugging effort. When'
I am reasonably sure that the checks are no longer doing anyone'
any good, I will phase them out.'
