Communications and Networks

Communications, data compression, and workstation configuration studies have set the stage for the home use of Dandelions by staff members. The Electronic Model Shop is producing a build of Dicentra processors, to upgrade the Research Internet and for use in device control. A prototype voice editing facility, based on the Etherphone, has been developed and tested. The transition of Arpanet and CSNet communications from the Maxc computer to other servers was completed, allowing Maxc to be retired from service. Work on the Research Internet was confined to support, maintenance, and consulting activities. Work on NS protocols for Cedar is beginning.
