Abstract    Description of the CSL-8308 Voice Terminal

    The CSL-8308 voice terminal is a microprocessor-based multifunction terminal, intended for applications in office systems research. 
     Its functions include a number of simple telephone control capabilities.  This document describes the components and features 
    of the CSL-8308 relating to its telephone functions.
    The CSL-8308 voice terminal comprises the following equipment:
           CSL-8308 unit
                  Cabinet Dimensions: 12" x 13" x 5"
                  Power: 60Hz AC, 110V
                  Audio Inputs:
                     Telephone instrument (modular jack)
                         Telephone line (RJ12C or RJ13C voice jack)
                         Microphone (RCA connector, 600 ohms, -50dBm)
                         Two line-level input (RCA connector, 600 ohms, 1V peak-to-peak)
                  Audio Outputs:
                         Telephone instrument
                         Telephone line
                         Loudspeaker (keyed modular jack)
                         Two line-level outputs (RCA connector, 10K ohms, 1V peak-to-peak)
                  Digital Connections:
                         Ethernet (DB-25S connector)
                         Serial port (RS232 (DB-15S) connector)
           Telephone instrument (ITT model 2500M, supplied)
           Loudspeaker assembly (control unit, loudspeaker, connecting cable).
           Loudspeaker interface cable.
           Telephone instrument interface cable.
           Telephone line interface cable.
           Microphone with attached cable.
           AC Power cable.
           Ethernet cable (optional)
           RS-232 cable (optional)
    Features:
           All functions can be controlled from the telephone instrument DTMF keypad.
           Stored-number dialing of outgoing calls.
           Choice of telephone transmitter, microphone, or line input as source of outgoing voice information.
           Choice of telephone receiver, speaker, or line output as destination for incoming voice information.
    Meets all requirements of the FCC Rules and Regulations, Part 68, for connection of terminal equipment to the public telephone
