Subject: Labels for SIGGRAPH Video Review Issues
===
Please determine the status of my telephoned request of about a month ago to provide adequate labeling of issues of the SIGGRAPH Video Review. Please pass on the following concerns to the appropriate ACM individual responsible for the SIGGRAPH Video Review.
My preference is that issues of the SIGGRAPH Video Review be labeled with appropriate printed labels for both the 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch cassettes and their cases. Issues 18-22 that I received from Lynn Gibson several months ago were not labeled satisfactorily. These were 3/4-inch tapes with small printed labels on the tape cassettes only and handwritten issue numbers on the protective cases.
The sales of SIGGRAPH Video Review issues are quite profitable, and I would prefer that we have a professional appearance for each issue. I can identify four places where information should appear: 1) the spine of the case, 2) the top of the case, 3) the spine of the cassette, and 4) the top of the cassette. My requirements are for the following labeling:
- the ACM and SIGGRAPH logo should be prominent on all four faces
- keep the cursive SIGGRAPH Video Review two-color design
- the SVR issue number should be easliy visible on both spines; if there is a special issue name, such as selections from a SIGGRAPH or CHI conference, then that name should also appear on the spines
- the current table of contents should appear on both the case and cassette
I realize that these requirements lead to short print runs for the different sizes of labels. However, I expect that a clever graphic designer could help us use the same artwork for different purposes here. I consider it preferable to be overstocked with excess labels than to poorly identify one of SIGGRAPH's prime information outlets.
