Abstract: The Grapevine Distributed System is a multi-computer system on the Xerox research internet. It provides facilities for the transport of electronic data such as messages, and provides facilities for naming people, machines and services, for authenticating people and machines, and for locating services on the internet.

This document describes the interfaces to Grapevine in sufficient detail for a reader to program software that will use Grapevine.
