E.g., I often wonder just what I DO have selected in the invisible parts of the TOC. Herewith some suggestions: Beneath the TOC thumb line, place a (rotated and miniaturized) selection triangle for EACH selected entry. Consecutive selection might be indicated by an extended "selection trapezoid. Use the vertical bar to indicate the currently displayed message. Beneath the displayed message thumb line, use a dashed underline to indicate the range of any active secondary selection in the displayed message. Ditto for the Composed message, but also use a solid underline for the primary selection (video reverse of the thumb line for Pending Delete!). Use a caret to indicate the typein point. Get rid of the vertical bar, except as the cursor for thumbing. Jim H. *start* 00685 00024 US Date: 24 Sept. 1980 11:51 am PDT (Wednesday) From: Horning Subject: Another Multimenu? To: Brotz cc: LaurelImp^ I keep hearing complaints of the form "DO/ESC, CANCEL, and MOVE almost always do good things, but it's hard to predict what they will be, because the buffers aren't visible." How about a command that would bring up a multimenu line with brackets for the deleted and inserted strings? (And possibly even menu equivalents of DO/ESC, CANCEL, and MOVE?) Com-M isn't presently in use. I sometimes wonder if COM-F and COM-S shouldn't be restricted to bringing up the corresponding menus, rather than triggering the commands. More modeless? How hard would it be to ensure that the same trick that is used to avoid this on Get also works when the entire message is selected?
