Here are some hints that you mayfind helpful:1.Hold the mouse so that the endconnected to the wire points directlytoward the back of your desk or table. This makes the movements of fhe cursoron the screen correspond exactly tothose of the mouse on the tabletop.2.Use a thick plastic pad, or some othersmooth, flat surface on which to roll themouse, rather than rolling it directly onthe tabletop. This makes the mouse'smovements smoother and easier tocontrol. Keep the pad free of dust orashes, as both will hinder the movementof the mouse. 3.When moving the mouse, hold it firmlybetween your thumb and middle finger, using your index finger to press thebuttons. Do not let go of the mouse inorder to press a button, since this maycause the cursor to wander from thedesired position.4.If you find you are reaching too far orhave to lean forward in order to controlthe mouse, pick it up and move it backto a more comfortable position. Thecursor only responds to the rolling ofthe ball on the bottom of the mouse, and will not move when the mouse islifted from the table. The mouse may beplaced on either side of the keyboard.î ïúpqô5õpqpqî%÷î<[î êï¼ð&îöïf2tî ïXŽôXwôŸtôXî ïRZptô€pî!Ãtô¤ð%ô¥ î!ÃïPIôÊ ôËð"î!ÃïN8ô€î%ŸïKvî){ôƒô„î){ïIeô ôî){ïGTôÀî){ïECô†ð"î){ïC2ô ôî){ïA!ô€î%Ÿï>_î){ôÁôÂð!î){ïDetail Print Ÿ Find < > Ÿ Subst < > Ÿ Confirm Styles: On ShowOPTION MENUS Certain commands cause the standard editing menuat the head of a document window to be replacedby an option menu. Its function in this system isreplaced by the Keep: commands described above.Printer COMMANDTo facilitate reading and editing, text displayed onthe screen generally appears larger than in print. Therefore, fewer characters appear on one line indisplay mode than in print. It is difficult to judgewhat word actually begins a new line in print, howtabulated text will appear, and whether a headingactually fits on one line. For example, a line of textin this paragraph is approximately 33 characterslong as it appears on the screen (display mode.) Inprint, the same line would contain approximately 47characters (the numbers are approximate becausethis paragraph is justified, and text is expanded orcontracted to fill the defined space.)Printer is a miscellaneous command that providesthe ability to view text in hardcopy mode, and assure that whenever the document is brought tothe screen the selection will still be displayed inhardcopy mode. That is, you will be able to seewhere text will appear in the printed document. However, theappearance of the document in this mode does notcorrespond exactly to the way it will look whenprinted. For example, the line breaks in thehardcopy of a document will not fall in the sameplaces as on the screen. You can view yourdocument exactly as it will appear in various formsof hardcopy by marking a display mode commandon the Display mode menu. These options controlthe display of the entire document. Your document is shown on the display about 20%larger than it will be printed on the page. Bymarking a display mode you can view yourdocument as it actually will appear on a printedpage.Your document contains several non-printingcharacters. For example, characters that signify theend of a paragraph. Or, characters that signify atab, or a space. By marking a display mode youcan view these non-printing characters.PROCEDUREIn the Main menu:1.MARK Detail2.MARK Display modeî ïúuvuôGõvuvî%÷vô5 î<[î!“ïvð$îöïf2tîïXŽy ôŸî ïRZtutô€uî!Ãtôçôèî!ÃïPI ôð$î!ÃïN8ôÀôÁð%î!ÃïL' ôžôŸî!ÃïJ ôùôúî!ÃïHô:ô;î!ÃïEôôÑôÒî!ÃïCãôô î!ÃïAÒôªð+î!Ãï?ÁôÃð+î!Ãï=°ôô®î!Ãï;Ÿô€ð!î!Ãï5ktô¦ð!ô§ î!Ãï3Zôôð$î!Ãï1Iôpôqî!Ãï/8ôëôìð%î!Ãï-'î!Ãï)ôÃôÄw î!Ãï&ôt ôôŽ î!Ãï$ãôÂð/î!Ãï"ÒôÆ ôÇî!Ãï Áô€ð$î ïuî!Ãtî!Ãïkî%Ÿrî!ÃïZtî%Ÿr ÿ ŽTVk(åXEROX DOCUMENT SYSTEMEDITOR VERSION 5.3REVISION 02/01/81CHAPTER 8: INTRODUCTION TO PRINTING7THE DISPLAY MODE MENUDisplay mode menu Apply ÕFormat for:ÿ Screen Printer HyType 10 12 PSCharacters: Normal Formatting visible Paragraphs visibleCOMMANDSCommands that are in effect are shown as white onblack.
