1108 Local Hard Disk File System ======================= Changes to user interface: (See DlionFS.tedit, .press) 1. There is now a single local hard disk file device, {DSK}. Each logical volume with a Lisp directory on it now counts as a separate directory of the device {DSK}. (In Carol, each logical volume with a Lisp directory counted as a separate device.) 2. The function MKDIR is replaced by the function DFSCREATEDIRECTORY. 3. The function MAKEPILOT is replaced by DFSPURGEDIRECTORY. 4. The function DFSVOLUMES is replaced by VOLUMES. 5. The function DFSLISPVOLUMEP is replaced by VOLUMETYPE. 6. The function CURRENTVOLUME is replaced by DISKPARTITION. Changes to the disk interface: 1108 disk format has changed to track the Klamath release of Pilot, the 1108's low-level disk operating system. To update your disk accordingly, you will have to repartition it using Othello 11.0, Hello 11.0, or the Harmony Installation Utility floppy (see preceding section). Afterwards, you will have to use DFSCREATEDIRECTORY to recreate any Lisp directories on local disk logical volumes. Note that because of the change in disk format, you cannot run a Carol sysout on a Harmony-partitioned 1108, nor a Harmony sysout on a Carol-partitioned 1108. Additional changes: AR 1789: * SCAVENGEVOLUME now preserves filenames. Note that SCAVENGEVOLUME is no longer in the sysout; it is in a library package called DlionFSScavenge. AR 1442: * 1108 Local File system much more robust AR 808: * 1108 Local disk upper-case-izes HOST/DEVICE names. When returning full file names, the 1108 local file system coerces the "host/device" name to upper case: {dsk} -> {DSK}.
