No number is supplied, since the system knows the phone number for the RName LastName.PA. The entry is included in the directory only for convenience in phoning.
Delete these comments. They are provided to explain the file format.
Somebody's name office number home number remarks
Fields are separated by one or more TABs. Every field in a node after the third is a remark.
There is still a two-number limit for each entry.
Telephone numbers should be full public telephone or Xerox Intelnet numbers:
(415)555-1234 or 8*823-1234.
Leading 9 or 8 is not needed for public numbers; Finch will supply them.
Somebody's name office number * remarks
An asterisk can hold the place for any omitted field (except the name field.)
The remaining examples are variants of entries containing RNames.
FullName <RName.registry> * home number
The RName is not the person's last name, or the registry is not PA and must be specified.
Asterisk holds the place for the system-provided office number; the home number is private.
<LastName> office number
The user wishes to override the system-provided office number.

Letters may appear in phone numbers. Unlike the call-by-name feature for the telephone touchpad, all punctuation is ignored.
